Summary:
Shriram Marathe is a Postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Poland. He is a scholarship holder of the ULAM NAWA programme numbered 39/2022. The duration of his ULAM scholarship is 24 months (01-08-2023 to 31-07-2025). He received a funding aid of 0.31 million PLN for the research topic entitled ‘Engineering of a novel environmentally-friendly alkali activated pervious concrete pavements for effective storm water management’.
Shriram obtained a PhD in Civil Engineering Sciences from the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi (India); a Master degree in Transportation Engineering from National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal (India), a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from the Visvesvaraya Technological University (India). He also completed Master Facilitator Degree (MFLHRD) in Human Resources Development from College of Leadership and Human Resource Development, Mangalore (India). Earlier, he was working as an Associate Professor in the Dept. of Civil Engineering NMAM Institute of Technology Nitte (NITTE Deemed to be University, Mangalore, India). He has authored over 30 scientific papers and edited 3 books (with Springer Nature), exposed to both academic research environments for the past 07 years, and has about 10 years of teaching experience at Post Graduate and Under Graduate curriculum. He has guided over 40 projects in Post Graduate and Under Graduate level; and, currently guiding a PhD research scholar at NITTE (DU) for the research on Fiber-reinforced Alkali Activated Nano Concretes for Pavements.
Research Interests:
Alkali-activated Concretes for Pavement Applications, , Road Safety, Pavement Material characterization (Sub-grade soil, bituminous materials, and pavement quality concretes), Pavement Design of Highway and Airfield Pavements.
Key Achievements:
- Granted with a patent on the invention entitled, "Sustainable Pervious Alkali Activated Concrete Paver Block Pavement for Ground water Recharge" from very reputed IP India.
- Granted with INR 1,50,000/- under NUFR1 scheme of NITTE (DU) for the research project entitled, " Performance studies on eco-friendly alkali activated fibre-reinforced nano-concretes using industry waste materials " during 2022 (N/RG/NUFR1/NMAMIT/2022/09).
- Granted with INR 4,95,000/- under NMAMIT Research Grant for the research project entitled, "Study and to Develop Cost Effective and Green Masonry Block Using Industrial Waste Materials" (NMAMIT/RF/2017/08)
- Granted with a study tour fund of INR 2,00,000/- by AICTE New Delhi- India under YUVAK scheme to visit ATAL tunnel situated at Rotang pass of Himachal Pradesh state and successfully completed the project as a team leader (STDC-AICTE-ST-AT/266/2020-2021/24).
- Worked as the Organizing Secretary for the very reputed 12th International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering- ICETE 2022 at NITTE University which was held at NMAMIT campus in December 2022.
- Worked as the Conference Secretary for two times and successfully organized International Conference on Civil Engineering Trends and Challenges for Sustainability- CTCS (2020 and 2021) at NMAMIT Nitte campus.
- Served as the co-ordinator at the Department Level for Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), National Assessment and Accreditation Counci (NAAC), National Board of Accreditation (NBA), Board of Studies (BoS)...etc., at NMAMIT Nitte (DU).
- Serving as reviewer for reputed international journals such as Construction and Building Materials, Case Studies in Construction Materials, Road Materials and Pavement Design, Materials Today, Resources, Environment and Sustainability, Journal of Materials, Journal of Sustainability...etc.
